TrICA

Treasure Valley Institute for

Children's Arts

For years, many of you may have passed by "the old church on the corner" and been taken by both it's beauty and disrepair. It is the Emmanuel Methodist Episcopal Church Building and one can’t help but imagine the potential each time you see it. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places.  In fact, the building is exactly 100 years old this year.  It was built in 1907.  Jon Swarthout, founder and artistic director of Children’s Dance Institute (CDI) is excited to announce the expansion of CDI to become TrICA: Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts.

TrICA is a place created distinctly for children.  Our mission is to engage and inspire children through experience-based programs and quality, relational-style teachers that ultimately help to foster better humanity and community through the arts. We now have a place of physical relevance in which to fulfill this mission.

TrICA will be the home of Children's Dance Institute, Open Door Children's Theater, and future programs including an outdoor children’s garden, music studio, library filled with wonderful children’s literature, puppet shows, story times, cooking, gardening, visual arts, and other worthwhile activities that engage children. We are also looking forward to being able to use TrICA for valuable activities in our community.

Although the building is magnificent in many ways, it is in a state of disrepair.  It is going to take a large community effort to restore this building to once again become a viable space.

Volunteers and In-kind services Needed

In the tradition of a Barn Raising is which the community would band together to build a barn, we are asking for a large group of volunteers help in many ways with the creation of TrICA. Cleaners, painters, plumbers, electricians, schleppers, or just those wanting to help in anyway will have a place in TrICA. Contact Lisa Lechner,  (208) 484-0142 , Administrative Director of CDI and let her know of your skills.

Philanthropists Needed

The private individuals, local businesses, and corporations who contribute to this project will do a great service to the community to be remembered for generations to come.
When restoration is complete, TrICA will be a crown-jewel of the Treasure Valley.

Ask your employer if your donation qualifies for matching funds.  TrICA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Please make checks payable to “TrICA  Fund”, c/o Children’s Dance Institute, 810 Brumback St. Boise, ID. 83702 or by calling the CDI office at (208) 484-0142.
